What is it?

It is a trauma-informed, deeply integrative practice that helps you reconnect with your body, release stored tension and trauma, and restore balance in your life. It combines bodywork and somatic techniques with modern psychology, conscious breathwork, movement therapy, and energy work, addressing both the physical and emotional layers of your experience. This work supports emotional regulation, nervous system balance, and overall vitality.

Grounded in trauma healing, it draws on Polyvagal Theory, Wilhelm Reich’s concept of character armor, and belts of tension to release deeply rooted emotional blockages. Energetic practices from the chakras, Taoism, and traditional Chinese medicine, along with bodymapping, vocal toning, and sound healing are also integrated to help your nervous system safely release tension, release trauma stored in the body, and activate your body’s natural capacity to heal.

Trauma and Body Memory

Trauma doesn’t just affect the mind—it profoundly impacts the body and nervous system. When we experience overwhelming events, the brain and body become hyper-alert, primed to respond to potential threats. Rather than being stored in muscles or bones, the need for self-protection is encoded in the brain’s emotional and memory centers, such as the hippocampus and amygdala. As a result, the body can react strongly whenever triggers reminiscent of the original trauma arise.

The effects of trauma can persist for years. Often a lifetime. Physically, it may show up as heightened sensitivity, chronic muscle tension, chest constriction, sleep disturbances, nightmares, headaches, or chronic pain. Emotionally, trauma can lead to anxiety, depression, dissociation, panic attacks, cognitive difficulties and even physical illness. Trauma also reduces the window of tolerance—the threshold at which stressful situations feel manageable—making individuals more susceptible to everyday stressors.

Somatic memories of trauma may manifest as physical sensations, impulses, or somatic flashbacks, where the body relives aspects of past events without conscious thought. Through trauma-informed bodywork and somatic practices, these stored experiences can be safely accessed and released, helping the nervous system regulate, integrate past experiences, and restore balance to both mind and body.

How holosomatic body therapy can help.

Holosomatic Bodywork supports trauma healing at both the body and nervous system level. Using trauma-informed techniques, breathwork, movement, energy work, and deep somatic practices, it helps release stored tension and emotional blockages, including the belts of tension that hold long-term trauma.

Sessions are guided with pendulation and titration to keep you well-resourced and safely connected to your inner sense of safety. This allows the nervous system to gradually release trauma without becoming overwhelmed, supporting emotional resilience and regulation.

The body can safely access and release somatic memories, reducing hypervigilance and easing physical effects of trauma such as chronic tension, chest constriction, headaches, or pain. By integrating modern psychology with somatic and energy-based practices, Holosomatic Bodywork provides a holistic path to recovery, helping you regain presence, safety, and connection with your body.
